current affairs connect group

The Group will meet in the Church Centre on Friday 8th November at 8.00pm when Sue Holden will speak.  Sue, who is a Quaker, ran a workshop on non-violent direct action at the recent Climate Conference and several of us wanted to hear more.  She will speak about:

- her faith journey and how God called her to non-violent direct action;

- the direct action she has participated in and the causes involved;

- her treatment by the authorities, including her prison experience and the impact on her life since.

There will be an opportunity to ask Sue questions and to discuss the issues.  Nobody will be pressured to take part in any direct action.  This issue is controversial because many are opposed to the direct action of Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil. This will be an interesting and challenging evening, and everyone is invited.

Remembrance Sunday

Please join us at 10.30am for a Service of Remembrance including a Two Minutes Silence with the Last Post and Reveille, and Laying of Wreaths by the Watford MP and the Elected Mayor.

In the afternoon join dignitaries and uniformed organisations meeting at St Mary’s at 2.30pm to walk to the Peace Memorial for an Act of Remembrance at 3.00pm.
